A Guide to skoah Facial Toners

A Guide to skoah Facial Toners

Toners of the past were simply an alcohol and water-based product that dried your sensitive skin out and might’ve not delivered on their performance. They are still highly misunderstood, and may seem like a completely skippable category in your skincare line up.

We want you to throw out all the preconceived notions you have about toners and read our guide on what exactly skoah toners do, and why you may not want to skip out on them after all!

What exactly do toners do for your skin?

Toners are meant to restore balance to your skin’s pH level back to optimal (5.5) after cleansing. Out of whack pH level can lead to redness, dryness, acne, irritation. It also sweeps away impurities, refreshes, soothes and hydrates, and preps your skin to absorb active ingredients more efficiently.

Skoah toners are alcohol-free, so you don’t have to worry about your toner drying out and irritating your sensitive skin. We use hydrating and calming plant extract ingredients like comfrey root extract, hyaluronic acid, sea kelp algae, and bearberry

How and when to use toner in your skin care routine

Toner should be applied on freshly cleansed skin (after you gently pat it dry with a towel). It should be applied before any serums, concentrates, and moisturizers. Our skoah toners come in spray bottles, so you can either spritz toner directly onto your skin, onto your palms and press into your face, or onto a cotton pad and sweep gently over your skin.

For regular toners: you can use your toner twice a day (both in your morning and night skincare routines), or you can also spritz whenever you need a refresher!

For acid toners/ toners that contain exfoliants: toners that contain aha can be too harsh for daily use and may cause irritation or redness if you overuse. 3 times per week is best, and don’t mix with these ingredients!

Pro tip: after spritzing on toner, quickly layer on your subsequent skin care products while your skin is still damp, as damp skin is more receptive to active ingredients and allows the molecules to penetrate your skin better to deliver better results!

Who would benefit from using toner?

Really anyone and everyone would benefit from using toners in their daily skincare routine! From our oily-skinned friends, folks with dry skin, and everyone in between. Plus, at skoah we have different ingredients that are best suited for different skin types and skin needs.
