It’s official. I have made up my mind that Vancouver is the most fashion forward city I have ever lived in. People are so bold and confident with their choice of “dare to be different” style, it’s hard not to get inspired and yearn to keep up with the fabulous trend setters.

With all the fireworks, street celebrations, and renowned festivals taking part in our city, I couldn’t help but think that maybe some of this colorful culture should be translated into our lives… daily!  What better way to do that, than with a smile. As a professional makeup artist, it is not only my job but my passion to be constantly aware of the season’s hottest makeup trends, so let me bring to you the scoop on what’s smoking hot this season in the makeup world, and make those lips speak!

This summer is all about going bright and bold! Long gone are the days of nudes and naturals -or, at least for now ;) - we want to see you stand out! Grab that floral print dress or neon pair of sunglasses that I know you love, and remind yourself that colour is a good thing! May I just point out the obvious: makeup washes off! Unlike that tattoo of your ex’s name … your lip gloss is not permanent.  There is almost no makeup that you could put on that we wouldn’t be able to combat with a swipe of our klean slate or in a jiffy makeup removers.

So, the next time you robotically reach for that go-to “nude gloss” that you’ve worn everyday for what seems like forever, I am here to remind you and dare you to try something new. My personal wearable faves for this season, that flatter any and all skin tones are our chiiki munki super glosses in Super Merlot, Super Raspberry, and Super Pomegranate.  So, my trend savvy skoah kustomers and fellow fashionistas, I say let’s leave the nudity for Wreck beach, and bring the season’s juicy colors to your perfect pout - stat!
